200,000 owner-built homes are constructed each year in the U.S.
160,000 (80%) come from stock home plans
The other 40,000 are designed by architects.
But...
75% of stock plans are later modified by architects per owners request. 75% of 160,000 = 120,000
Add in the other 40,000 designed by architects (not stock home plans)
120,000 + 40,000 = 160,000
Which brings us back to 80%
So, 80% of owner-built homes are designed in some way by a real achitect.
Think about it.
If 80% of your clothing needed to be re-tailored, you wouldn't have much faith in buying off the rack, would you?
